n April 2024, the Den Bosch Max Groen, the first inland vessel utilizing ZES (Zero Emission Services) technology, is set to sail emission-free routes between Den Bosch, Maasvlakte, and Moerdijk in the Netherlands. The vessel, equipped with a fixed battery package and standard 20-foot modular energy containers (ZESpacks), marks a significant step in green shipping initiatives. The project, led by Inland Terminals Group (ITG), Nedcargo, and ZES, anticipates four more vessels to follow suit. Charging stations with a 1MW Megawatt Charging System (MCS) will power the ZESpacks in just 3 hours, utilizing green energy certified by Dutch Guarantee of Origin. The innovative pay-per-use model and the expansion of the zero-emission fleet aim to reduce annual emissions substantially, contributing to sustainable maritime practices. The strategic setup of ZES charging stations at key locations signals a broader commitment to electrifying inland navigation.**
