The Port of Long Beach experienced a second consecutive monthly increase in cargo volume in October, with 755,150 twenty-foot equivalent units (TEUs) moved, marking a 14.7% rise compared to the same period in 2022. The boost is attributed to preparations for the upcoming holiday shopping season and ongoing efforts to regain market share. While imports surged by 23.6%, exports decreased by 24.8%, and empty container movements grew by 23.3%. Port authorities are optimistic about moderate growth through the year-end as retailers stock up for the winter holidays.
