Baltic Exchange's Dry Bulk Sea Freight Index Records Second Consecutive Weekly Decline

The Baltic Exchange's dry bulk sea freight index, encompassing capesize, panamax, and supramax vessels, experienced a 2.6% drop, totaling 63 points at 2,348, marking a 5.4 decrease for the week. Capesize vessels, transporting large cargo like iron ore, fell by 3.8%, with average daily earnings decreasing to $34,107. Panamax index saw a weekly decline of 9.7%, losing 15 points at 1,900, while supramax vessels recorded a 1.1% drop, ending a five-week winning streak. Softening demand for iron ore and concerns about China's economic stimulus contributed to the overall downturn in the shipping industry
