APM Terminals Pipavav celebrates a significant achievement by successfully loading its 1000th LPG (Liquid Petroleum Gas) rake through its dedicated rail infrastructure. Collaborating with Aegis VOPAK Terminals Ltd., the port ensures safe and efficient evacuation of LPG by rail since the commencement of operations in 2021. Notably, the port's rail sidings can accommodate entire rakes simultaneously, setting it apart in India. Major PSUs like IOCL, BPCL, and HPCL benefit from the LPG Rail Handling Infrastructure Facility for swift evacuation. Managing Director Mr. Girish Aggarwal emphasizes their commitment to seamless and safe LPG movement, especially in response to the Pradhan Mantri Ujjwala Yojna. The port plans a $90 million investment in a new liquid berth to meet the rising demand for liquid cargoes, contributing to economic growth in Gujarat. Furthermore, the port has recently upgraded its berth to accommodate Very Large Gas Carriers (VLGC) and envisions a dedicated VLGC-compliant LPG Berth by 2025 in partnership with Aegis Vopak Terminals Limited, solidifying its role as a crucial hub for India's LPG imports.
