Teck Resources Limited and Oldendorff Carriers GmbH & Co. KG have joined forces to reduce CO2 emissions in their supply chain. The initiative involves outfitting the vessel Dietrich Oldendorf, which transports Teck's steelmaking coal from the Port of Vancouver, with a Flettner Rotor system by mid-2024. The wind-powered rotors are expected to cut emissions by 55%, resulting in an annual reduction of over 17,000 tonnes of CO2. The collaborative efforts have already eliminated an estimated 115,000 tonnes of CO2 emissions since November 2021. The move reflects Teck's commitment to a sustainable climate strategy and the advancement of green transportation corridors.
