The current composite index is 3% lower than the average pre-pandemic rates in 2019. With an average of $1,682 per 40ft container year-to-date, the rates are $991 lower than the 10-year average. Specific routes, such as New York to Rotterdam, Los Angeles to Shanghai, and Rotterdam to Shanghai, experienced fluctuations, with Drewry anticipating East-West spot rates to remain close to current levels in the coming weeks.
